Supplies needed:
- Paper mache or foam egg
- Buttons
- Hot glue gun/hot glue/glue of choice (or pins if using a foam egg)
- any extras i.e.: paper flowers, ribbon, paint
I started with a paper mache egg because I searched all over Hobby Lobby and could not find a foam egg. If I had found a foam egg I would have used pins instead of hot glue to hold the buttons on.
I painted my egg pink, since this is an Easter craft and I wanted it to match my buttons. I wrapped my ribbon around the middle of the egg and tied it into a tiny bow and hot-glued it in place so that it wouldn't come undone.

I have to share with you something about my glue gun, I bought it with a 50% coupon from Joann's because it was battery operated: meaning I could use it anywhere! I love it and use it quite a lot, my only complaint is that the batteries seem to die very quickly. Anyways...back to the tutorial. I started gluing my buttons, using the biggest ones in the middle and smaller ones as I got closer to the top of the egg. My daughter liked helping with this part, she would hand me buttons asking "This one mommy?"
I only covered the front half of the egg because it was much larger than I had anticipated and I did not have enough pastel buttons to cover the entire thing. I would estimate that you would need about 100 buttons for an egg this size. I bought most of the ones used for this project from here.
My last little button pack I bought at Hobby Lobby had this pretty sparkly purple flower in it. I think it's the perfect finishing touch to this Easter egg. Now that it's done you can sit it on display with your other Easter decorations...or display it as your only Easter decoration like me... haha. The only holidays I decorate for are Halloween and Christmas, I just thought this was a fun craft and it will probably be used as decoration all year long lol.
Hope you give it a try! From my family to yours, blessings and love.
