What is seen cannot be unseen

Inspiration hit and I started a new painting. I love when I begin something having no idea where I'm going with it. I knew I wanted it to be colorful and pretty abstract, which allowed me a lot of freedom to experiment. I already had a 16x20 canvas that I had brushed left-over paint onto from another project.

I began by using a plastic bag to add some texture to it. I picked another color and used my sponge to add more. I went to do my motherly duties while that dried. I waited until the kids were occupied again and headed back to my desk to work on it some more. Usually my next move is to splatter paint but I decided it might look better to do some paint drips. So I picked a few colors and ran them along the top squeezing a little more along the way.

I love watching the paint colors blend and drip down the canvas, it's pretty relaxing and fascinating to watch.

Once the drips had dried enough, I grabbed my handy black paint marker. I started from the center and created a mandala styled pattern.

I also used my stencils and paint to add a little more to the background. Then I continued on with my pattern, adding swirls when I reached the outside. Afterward, I turned the painting upside down and started the drip with different colors.

I love the cracking in the drips once they dry. Some may think it takes away from the painting but, I like it.

I finished it off with a gloss varnish to protect the paint drips from flaking off.

My 3 year old daughter told me it was beautiful. I love that children always have a way of seeing things in ways adults may not, their innocence allows them to see beauty in anything whereas our adult mind's creativity has been dulled by the world. Every now and then I can view the world in that child-like sense but I just wish it lasted longer...

Here's the finished painting which I named "What is seen, cannot be unseen".

Hope you enjoyed seeing the process and I really hope you like the finished product.

Blessings and love from my family to yours.
